All About the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University

The Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University of India is located at Kukatpally in Hyderabad. The National Assessment and Accreditation Council have accredited this University with Grade A. It is one of the most reputed academic institutions of the country since the last forty years.

Territorial jurisdiction of the University

Areas of Hyderabad, Medak, Ranga Reddy, Adilabad, Nizamabad, Khammam, Warangal, Karimnagar, Mahboobnagar and the Nalgnda districts of the state of Andhra Pradesh, falls under the University's jurisdiction.

The Administration

The university has acquired its autonomous status after the pass of Act 30 with the approval of the legislature of Andhra Pradesh which is called the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Act. It is a University, where a research unit is also present apart from being a teaching organization. The main councils and the officers are the Chancellor, the Vice Chancellor, the Rector, the Academic Senate and the Executive council. The Chancellor of this university is the governor of the state of Andhra Pradesh. Dr. D.N Reddy, who is a very good administrator and a highly educated scholar, is the vice chancellor of this university.

Constituent Units: The university has a name for selecting the promising students from remote and rural backgrounds through a selection system that is completely impartial. They train them essentially for the competitive world with knowledge and expertise.

Industrial knowledge is a very important part of the courses that are covered in the institution. The department of technology and science has established a Cell of Entrepreneurship Development for creating an environment that is business oriented. This will be useful for promoting the nonprofit organizations and the medium and small enterprises for organizing talks over radios, television and lectures regarding development of business skills. The Bureau of Industrial Consultancy Services of JNTU was formed giving the students a hand on experience in commerce. It was formed as a means to aid the needs regarding Human Resource skills and identifying the needs of the developments of R&D and also for engaging in opportunities pertaining to entrepreneurship. It was designed for making coordination with organizations like MCH, HUDA, APSEB, APSRTC, ONGC, BHEL, the south central railway, the Indian Airport Authority and many more.

The academic framework of the institution is majorly constituted by research work and the R&D cells are quite efficient as well. All the activities of research are monitored by this cell and they coordinate by giving recommendations of the members of the faculty. A very active part of the campus is the extension activities. In order to develop a certain humanitarian temper, the National Service Scheme has been developed by the University. Some important work that has been done by this scheme is laying of roads and several environmental programs.
